Privacy policy

This page explains what Northern Star Lighting of Bohemia, New York collects through this website and what we do with it. The short version: we keep what you give us when you ask for a quote, we use it to get back to you and do the job, and we don't sell it or hand it to anyone for marketing.

What we collect

If you only browse the site, we don't collect anything about you. There are no analytics, no tracking scripts, and no cookies for visitors.

When you send us a request through the quote form, we keep what you put in it:

• your name
• your phone number
• your email address
• the property address
• the services you selected
• the month you'd like the lights up
• whatever you wrote in the details box
• the IP address of the connection that sent the form

The IP address is stored with the message. We use it to limit how many requests one connection can send in an hour and to spot abuse of the form. That's all it's used for.

If you call, text, or email us instead, we keep whatever you share so we can follow up on it.

How we use it

We use your request to reply to you, to come out and look at the house, and to schedule, install, service, and take down your display. We also keep it for our own records.

Your request is stored in a database on our own server. We don't sell your information, we don't share it with anyone for marketing, and we don't add you to a mailing list.

Who else sees it

A small number of services help run this site. Here is exactly who they are and what they see.

• Resend (resend.com) delivers an email copy of each new request to us. That means the contents of your request pass through Resend on the way to our inbox. Resend has its own privacy policy.
• Let's Encrypt issues the certificate that secures your connection to this site. It never receives any visitor data.
• Fonts are served from our own server, so no font provider sees your visit.
• Social media. The site links out to our social accounts, such as Instagram. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we don't control what they collect once you're there.

No other third party receives anything you send through the form.

Cookies

This site sets exactly one cookie, called nsl_admin, and only when the business owner signs in to the admin area to manage the site. Visitors are never given a cookie.

There are no analytics cookies, no tracking pixels, and no advertising cookies. If that ever changes, we'll update this page to say so.

Payments

No payments are taken on this site, and the site will never ask you for card or bank details. Any payment for an installation is arranged directly with us.

How long we keep it

We keep your request for as long as we need it to provide and support the service, and for our records after that.

You can ask us at any time, by phone or email, to delete your request. When you do, we remove it from our database.

Photos of your home

We sometimes photograph finished installations and show them in the gallery on this site and on our social media.

Those photos show the outside of the property only. We never publish your address or your name with a photo unless you've agreed to it.

If you'd rather your house not appear, or you want a photo taken down, tell us and we'll remove it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us something through the form, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Every page on this site is served over HTTPS, so what you send is encrypted on the way to us. The admin area is password protected and rate limited, and the quote form is rate limited too.

No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we keep this site small and simple on purpose so there is less to go wrong.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site works or what it collects, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
